The Lagree Fitness Method was developed by Sebastien Lagree, a French-American inventor with more than 40 patents. He created the Megaformer™ machine to work in harmony with his innovative method, offering an effective, low-impact workout for every participant.
The Lagree Fitness Method combines resistance training and cardio in a way you won’t find anywhere else. High-intensity incorporates traditional exercises like squats and lunges are adapted and new exercises are made possible by specially designed workout machines like the Megaformer™.
Every workout – and every move – draws on the full spectrum of fitness, including:
- Strength training
- Core exercises
At a licensed fitness center like Alter’d Core, your instructor will take you through a series of moves that will build strength and blast fat while also protecting your joints. Slow and controlled movements mean that you are working with constant muscle tension, not relying on momentum, so you can build muscle strength as well as endurance. Each fitness class is also designed to keep your heart rate safely elevated for an extended period of time, incorporating the benefits of cardiovascular exercises.

If you are unfamiliar with the Lagree Fitness Method and/or you have never used a Megaformer™ before, make sure you review our page on what to expect for your first Alter’d Core class! There are a few things you need to know, like the fact that shoes are not permitted on the equipment, and you will need a pair of grip socks, which you can purchase from the studio if you don’t have your own.
